Controlled Tuna Melt

Ingredients

  • 5 ounces canned tuna in water, drained
  • 1 tablespoon light mayonnaise
  • Chopped celery, to taste
  • Chopped onion, to taste
  • 1 thin slice cheddar cheese
  • 1 English muffin, split, or 2 slices whole-wheat bread
  • Pickle spears
  • Sliced tomato

Instructions

  1. Preheat the broiler.
  2. Mix the tuna with the mayonnaise, celery, and onion.
  3. Place the English muffin halves or bread slices on a baking sheet.
  4. Divide the tuna mixture over the bread and top with the cheese.
  5. Broil until the cheese melts and the edges of the bread begin to brown.
  6. Serve open-faced with pickle spears and sliced tomato.
